In The Netherlands off-line shops like V&D, Mediamarkt and Bijenkorf often have retail moments in which they dramatically reduce prices (like the “Dol dwaze dagen’ translates into ‘Crazy weeks’) of popular products.
The Media Markt, one of the largest hardware retailers in The Netherlands, even uses a slogan which translates into ‘if you do not compare, you must be crazy’. Well, the funny thing is, consumers DO compare these ‘so-called’ radical offers of retailers. And they do it online. Considering that the Media Markt has different prices per local store and only sells a small part online, I would suggest Media Markt to start looking for a different slogan
. It is really dangerous not to take your consumers seriously. Consumers are beginning to become quite savvy and are very capable of comparing prices of products on-line. (more…)
